Mechanical Engineer, Catagen Belfast

Position: The Decarbonisation Systems Engineer – Mechanical performs engineering duties including design, research, testing, and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery components.

Main duties

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems using analysis, calculations and modelling techniques.
  • Conduct research to develop manufacturing processes, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment.
  • Analyse test data and propose design improvements to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop and test prototypes of mechanical devices and systems to evaluate design performance.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects.
  • Supervise manufacturing, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate work teams and provide technical support.
  • Maintain engineering documentation including design plans, test logs, timelines and progress reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable quality, safety, and engineering codes and regulations.
  • Stay current on the latest mechanical engineering principles, technologies, and practices.

The ideal person:

  • Degree-level education in engineering or technical discipline
  • Recent design and develop experience of mechanical components and systems
  • Works well in small cohesive team and independently as required
  • Good communication with ability to present to stakeholders at all levels
